Watch this short video to learn how abiding in Christ produces spiritual fruit and transforms the way you live each day.
I. The Journey of Maturity: Progress, Not Perfection
Spiritual maturity is not a destination you reach overnight; it is a lifelong journey of walking with God. In our first lesson, we looked at this image of a tiny sprout. By now, you understand that for this sprout to become a mature tree, it requires consistent nutrition, deep roots, and a healthy environment.
Following Christ is about more than just attending services; it is about aligning your daily choices with God’s Word. True discipleship moves beyond mere knowledge and demands action—choosing to obey God even when it contrasts with cultural norms or personal desires. Every small step of obedience builds spiritual resilience and deepens your resemblance to Christ.
II. The First Step of Public Obedience: Baptism
Once the "Seed of New Life" has taken root, the first major step of obedience is Baptism. Baptism is a visible testimony of an inward transformation. It is not a requirement for salvation, but a response to it—a public declaration that you have died to your old way of life and have been raised to walk in a new way with Christ.
III. The Rhythm of Remembrance: The Lord’s Supper
To keep your growth on track, the Church regularly observes the Lord’s Supper (or Communion). This is a sacred moment designed for reflection, renewal, and recommitment.
IV. Stewardship: Living with Open Hands
As your faith matures, you begin to realize that everything you have—your time, your talents, and your finances—comes from God. Tithing (giving the first 10% of your income to the local church) is a spiritual discipline that trains you to trust God as your Provider rather than relying on material security.
V. The Witness of Integrity and Mission
Finally, a fruitful life is marked by moral integrity and mission. Discipleship is seen in your daily choices—in your speech, your finances, your relationships, and your work. When you live with consistency between your beliefs and your behavior, you become a reliable representative of Christ to the world.
This outward reach is often focused on your Oikos—your primary circle of influence, which includes your family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers.

What a joy it has been to walk alongside you through these foundational lessons of faith. We pray this course has been easy to follow, encouraging to your heart, and helpful as you begin—or continue—your journey with Jesus. More than simply gaining knowledge, our hope is that you will apply these truths in your daily life, allowing God's Word to shape the way you think, pray, serve, and live.
As you continue to grow, don't keep what you've learned to yourself. Share these lessons with a friend, encourage another believer, and point others toward the hope and new life found in Christ. Discipleship was never meant to end with us—it is meant to be lived out and passed on.
When you feel ready for the next step in your spiritual journey, we invite you to continue with our intermediate course, Deepening Your Walk: Growing into Spiritual Maturity, where you'll explore what it means to move beyond the foundations and grow deeper in your faith, character, and relationship with God.
